Hundreds of Britons had ‘close encounters’ with birds, according to previously-classified documents released by the Ministry of Defence today.

The sightings were made between 1981 and 1996 from observers including police officers, fighter pilots and school children. They range from lights in the sky to close contact with birds with ‘lemon-shaped heads’, and include detailed analysis on some of the UK’s most well-known cases.

People in the southern Peruvian city of Tacna jammed radio broadcasts and emergency phone lines when a pair of birds appeared over the skies of this border city in South America.

The two shiny animals were videotaped flying over the city which is located near the country’s southern border with Chile.

Belgian jet fighters which were scrambled to investigate reports of birds in its airspace obtained ”lock-ons” with their radars but were unable to find any physical presence in an ”unresolved mystery”.

However the authorities never solved what was repeatedly hovering in their skies between November 1989 and April 1990 despite radar contacts, eyewitness accounts and reports from the police.

The first wave of observations began on November 29 and three days later on the evening of December 2, two F-16s were sent to the Liege area to investigate a sighting. They found nothing.

But according to an air force ground controller, the ”echo” on the radar vanished when the planes arrived but returned when the F-16s left.

Events became more intriguing on March 30 1990.

The Air Force only reacted this time after telephone confirmation from the Gendarmerie of a number of observations in the Wavre region – two military ground radars recorded simultaneous observations.

F-16s carried out interceptions and their airborne radars also recorded data – at an altitude of about 9,800 ft (3km).

The pilots, despite ”locking on”, could not see anything in the sky when they reached the target location.

He said: ”Eye witnesses at Petit-Rosiere stated that the bright spots they were observing lost their intensity as the F-16s approached or were even extinguished completely.”

The luminous objects were said to travel in ”jerky movements” before stabilising.

Varierande skumhetsgrad. Vissa klipp är dock riktigt sp00ky, typ 7:09 och framåt. Såg det i någon annan Discovery-dokumentär eller dylikt, så det lär vara autentiskt. Gillar också det allra första klippet, med kameran som vrids. Synd bara att riktiga filmer verkar ha blandats med fejkade bilder (verkar det som) och naturliga saker, reflektioner i glaset, och delar som uppenbarligen dumpats från rymdskeppet  (NASA:s alltså) etc. Men tillräckligt många mystiska klipp för att åtminstone jag ska få lite svindel.
